Energy Performance Certificates (EPC)
A commercial EPC provides an energy rating for a building which is based on the performance potential of that building. Services such as lighting, heating and ventilation are taken into account as well as the way in which these services are controlled and managed. The industry standard A to G energy rating will be provided on the certificate reflecting the intrinsic energy performance standard of the building relative to a benchmark.
Do you require an EPC?
As of the 1st October 2008 sellers and landlords are required by law to provide an Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) for all buildings or parts of buildings when they are sold or rented. Those carrying out the construction of a building will be required to provide an EPC to the owner. An Energy Performance Certificate gives prospective buyers or tenants information on the energy efficiency and carbon emissions of a building which is essential in the modern climate for buyers and tenants to assess and establish efficiencies, cost reduction and achieving a low carbon footprint.
How do you get an EPC?
Only accredited buildings energy assessors are allowed to issue you with an Energy Performance Certificate and Recommendation Report.
